Camera and Lens Service Technician

The ARRI Rental Group, a premier rental house for professional motion picture Camera and Lighting equipment, is looking for a Camera and Lens Service Technician to work in our new Burbank, CA office.

The Camera and Lens Service Technician is responsible for the service and maintenance of professional digital motion picture cameras, lenses and accessories. This primarily includes the Alexa 65 camera but will include other ARRI cameras as needed.

We seek a highly motivated individual skilled at multi-tasking, with 3 years of related work experience servicing and repairing professional digital cameras, lenses and accessories. The right candidate will work with ARRI Rental Service departments worldwide to ensure our rental inventory is prepared to meet our client’s needs and ARRI Rental’s high standards.

This role encompasses the below responsibilities:

  • Service, maintain and repair digital equipment and accessories, ensuring equipment is complete and meets operational performance and set-up specifications. QC and evaluate new equipment as needed.
  • Service, maintain and repair spherical & anamorphic prime and zoom lenses, verifying its operational performance and set-up.
  • Troubleshoot and identify equipment issues, perform software and firmware updates and facilitate repairs within established guidelines.
  • Assist in preparation of equipment packages for rental.
  • Assist with equipment issues or malfunctioning inventory while on rental. Provide on-set support as needed.
  • Participate in demos, workshops and customer/staff training as needed.

Experience/Knowledge:

Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field, minimum of 2 years in a Generalist capacity. Along with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in Human Resources/Personnel Management.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of spherical lenses required and anamorphic lens knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of 16mm & 35mm motion picture cameras, lenses and accessories a plus.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Able to work with small hand tools and understand complex technical devices and their applications.
  • Able to utilize electronic and mechanical test equipment.
  • Must be computer literate and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Driver’s license with clean record preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work seated at a desk for up to 3 hours at a time and to operate a keyboard. Requires walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds is required. Proper lifting techniques are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
